3 tips to prepare you for summer camp registration

December 29, 2022    Registration, Youth sports

Summer camp registration is coming faster than you would think, and coaches and admins need to be ready. Preparation for summer camps starts early, and it’s important to be prepared and make sure that you have everything ready for athletes to sign up for their favorite camps when the time comes.

Here are three tips to help you prepare for summer camp registration:

  1. Finalize all of the details for your camp.

You need to make sure that this is a camp people want to attend. What should be the focus of your camp? What should the price range for registration be? Where will it be located?

These are all questions you need to be able to give parents and athletes definitive answers to before the registration date.

  1. Ask questions and gauge interest.

Sometimes, to get all of those details above, you need to get input from your community so you can determine if there is interest in a summer camp.

You can send out surveys or turn to social media to gauge interest from parents, coaches and athletes about summer camps. This will also help you better determine the focus or theme of your camp. Once you answer those questions, you can start to nail down important information like what your max capacity of attendees will be, how much support staff you’ll need, how many days the camp should run, any associated fees and important fee deadlines.

Don’t be afraid to ask these questions. All of this helps you achieve your goal of making the best camp experience possible for your athletes.

  1. Have athletes sign up early.

Once you’ve nailed down the most important details of your event, you will want to get people to sign up as early as possible. There will be plenty of camps for athletes to choose from, and having them sign up early helps you justify the cost of organizing the event.

Encourage parents to sign their kids up early and consider offering incentives for those who do. Incentives could be as simple as knocking off a few dollars from the registration fee, or a prize giveaway for the first 3-5 to register and pay. It is up to you to decide what would entice people enough to fill those vacant spots.

Setting up registration for a summer camp doesn’t have to be stressful.
